Mineshaft Johannes - Golden Hill

We are opening on 01.05. From this day on we are starting with regular tours of the mineshaft which will be held every day until 30.9.

this is an extraordinarily well-preserved complex of historic mine workings and underground chambers of huge dimensions

Guided tours and opening times

1.5 - 30.9 BASIC ROUTE: daily 9:30, 12:00; (tour lasts 1.5-2 hours).

Visitors will go through the Johannes mineshaft, enter the smaller chamber, see the flooded shaft at the chamber dug for the Silver Vein, and will view the main attraction – the large chamber, including the shaft; then they will return to the surface via the Johannes mineshaft. Then the visitor will climb to the building with a windlass; then they will return to the service building.
The tour lasts about 1,5 – 2 hours, depending on number of visitors. Time for renting and returning the equipment is included. The tour itself lasts about 1 hour. Caution! The ascend from the service building to the Johannes mineshaft takes 10-15 minutes
From 15.8 BASIC TRASA only: daily 9:30, 12:00, 14:30. (tour takes 1.5-2 hours).

1.5. - 14.8 BIG ROUTE: 14:30 Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (tour lasts 2.5-3.5 hours).

Visitors will go through the Johannes mineshaft, enter the smaller chamber, see the flooded shaft at the chamber dug for the Silver Vein, and will view the main attraction – the large chamber. A visit of the oldest part of the mine follows – a big chamber behind the „windy door“. There visitors will climb up the ladders, then they will walk through a labyrinth of mutualy joint chambers (again on the ladders). Here, visitors can try to crawl through a low corridor. When the underground tour has finished, visitors will return to the surface by climbing a wooden ladder in the shaft (approximately 40 metres). At the mouth of the mineshaft, visitors will examine a hand-operated windlass and then will return to the service building.
The tour lasts about 2,5 – 4 hours, depending on the number of vistors. The time for renting and returning the equipment is included. The tour itself lasts about 2 – 2,5 hours. Caution! The ascend from the service building to the Johannes mineshaft takes 10-15 minutes!

A maximum of 2 - 12 persons can take part during one tour. Please BOOK in advance.

Entry to the mineshaft is forbidden to: children up to 10 years Kinder unter 10 Jahre Children under the age of 10 years (should the real age of the child be concealed and the child will be "made older", then, legal representatives of the child will bear full responsibility).; persons with a phobia of confined space; persons with health problems (motion) and with the problems of maintaining the balance; persons who are drunk or under the influence of other addictive drugs; dogs and other animals

We recommend that you take warm "outdoor" clothing, including warm socks and boots. The visitors must expect possible fouling of their clothes.
